Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
The Schools Water Portal is an open, web-based platform for sharing learning resources on water amongst educators, students, school managers, and parents, as well as anyone with an interest in sharing ‘water knowledge’ or learning more about basic water issues. The Schools Water Portal is a section under The India Water Portal, a web-based platform, for sharing water management knowledge amongst practitioners and the general public. It is a voluntary effort coordinated by Arghyam, a non-profit trust that works in the area of water.

According to site organisers, the essence of the Schools Water Portal is sharing among a wide range of partners including educators, students, technical water experts, research institutes, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government departments, information technology (IT) specialists, artists, playwrights, storytellers, and others. It has sections for teachers, students, and principals, as well as a section on how to organise a "Water Week" with "mad ads, debates, plays, jingles, haiku, quizzes, and guest lecturers", each topic supported with educational materials.
