Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) Water Digest Water Awards (WDWA) of 2009-10 invites nominations for the Best 'Water Education' Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in India that excels in educating and enlightening societies and regions on water conservation and recycling.

 

The award, among 4 water-related awards is supported by UNESCO and the Indian Ministry of Water Resources. The key focus for the award is people, innovation, and processes that contribute to the sustainability of water resource. The WDWA aims to highlight those organisations, both NGOs and corporate organisations, that have worked within the community to ensure that the message of water use efficiency is communicated to people, institutions, government, and industries.

Broad Criteria for Judging include:

  • "Spreading Technological Awareness
  • Technological Innovativeness
  • Impact on Society
  • Environmental Benefits
  • Targets Set and Achieved"



Entry into the WDWA is open to companies and organisations operating in India. The WDWA winners will receive the Water Award, including a trophy and a citation.
