Global Citizen Corps Poetry Contest
Global Citizen Corps, an office of the international humanitarian organisation Mercy Corps, is inviting youth aged 15-25 to enter a poetry contest. Participants are asked to write a creative poem of 25 lines or less that answers the question, "What makes me a global citizen?" First place receives a US$275 gift card to Amazon.com, second place a US$175 gift card to Amazon.com. It is an opportunity to share views on global citizenship. First and second place also select a Mercy Kit worth US$25. Participants may submit as many poems as they wish.
Global Citizen Corps is challenging the global youth community to understand what it means to be a global citizen, in terms of both knowledge and action. The best submissions will take into account the following issues:
1. The interconnections between you and other people or areas of the world
2. Your personal convictions about global citizenship
3. Your personal responsibilities as a global citizen and how you can take action.
In addition to submitting the text of a poem, participants may add a photo that illustrates the poem, or record themselves on video or audio reading their poem.
