2007 International Alternative Channel Citizen Journalist Contest, The
The 2007 Alternative Channel Citizen Journalist Contest is sponsored by www.alternativechannel.tv - an independent television-over-internet news channel. The contest is open to "every citizen of
the world who feels they have something worth saying using video."
Videos will be judged on persuasion, values, message, relevance, and novelty. The length is a 1.5 to 6-minute-long report or testimonial video.
The Alternative ChannelTV audience will nominate their top 8 favourites in each category. The final judging will be by a jury of professional journalists.
Prizes will be awarded in February 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland,
during the first International Citizen Journalism Summit.
The categories and prizes in Canadian dollars are the following:
- Best English Language subject:
- The Alternative Channel best subject award (three prizes).
- The Audience’s Choice award (three prizes). - Best French Language subject:
- The Alternative Channel best subject award (three prizes).
- The Audience’s Choice award (three prizes). - Best Spanish Language subject:
- The Alternative Channel best subject award (three prizes).
- The Audience’s Choice award (three prizes).
- 1st Prize of each category: CAD$10,000.
- 2nd Prize of each category: CAD$3,000.
- 3rd Prize of each category: CAD$2,000.
Entry process: Upload and submit videos to the AlternativeChannel.TV website starting
May 1 2007.
The deadline for application is January 25 2008.
