Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

About C-Capacity, C-Change's Capacity Strengthening Online Resource Center

C-Capacity is:

  1. A centralized repository focused exclusively on SBCC materials, programs, and projects.
  2. A collection of innovative, state of the art SBCC strategies, tools, and applications with a proven record of success.
  3. A select listing of opportunities for SBCC support and dialogue.

What that means:

  1. A centralized repository for SBCC. C-Capacity is a one-stop-shop designed to assist knowledge generation, research, design, and implementation of SBCC programs. It contains resources, tools, best practices, and information on SBCC trainings and communities. C-Capacity content is segmented by region and topic to facilitate use.

  2. Includes innovative, state of the art SBCC strategies, tools, and applications with a proven record of success. On a regular basis C-Capacity is populated with material and updates vetted and reviewed by C-Change. In addition, a bi-monthly e-magazine is disseminated to alert/introduce you to the resources, trainings, links, and other opportunities for capacity strengthening in SBCC. Please send an email to cchangeorc@comminit.com to sign up for this e-magazine.

C-Capacity has practical tools and resources on the use of SBCC. The tools assist learning about and implementing SBCC programs. C-Capacity also has information on the effectiveness and impact of SBCC in the real world.
  3. A select listing of opportunities for SBCC support and dialogue. C-Capacity is a place to find opportunities for SBCC training, internships, exchanges, fellowships, and mentoring, and to connect with other existing networks and organizations.

The development of the C-Capacity Online Resource Center is led by C-Change partner Ohio University in cooperation with The Communication Initiative. C-Change is a project led by AED and funded by USAID. For a complete list of C-Change Partners - click here.
