The Communication Initiative
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Influenza Report 2006 is a free, online medical textbook that provides a comprehensive overview of epidemic and pandemic influenza. The text contains research level information and includes comprehensive bibliographies, as well as useful illustrations. Eight of the eleven chapters are currently available for download, with others to be available as they are completed and or updated. The Chapters in the textbook include:

 One of the available chapters, chapter six on pandemic preparedness, details the importance of communication and planning for reducing or slowing the transmission of a pandemic influenza strain. The chapter highlights the effectiveness of having a risk communication strategy in place in order to identify the most effective media and credible information sources and to ensure that practical information is accessible to everyone.

Influenza Report's mission is to be a source for comprehensive and in-depth information, that provides free, anonymous access to users.
