Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Peace and Collaborative Development Network

This is a free professional and academic network joining together those working in the areas of conflict resolution, peace studies, human rights, international development, democratisation, gender, social entrepreneurship, civil society development, and more. The virtual network centres around an interactive website designed to foster dialogue and sharing of resources, and to build bridges and expertise across sectors. It was launched by the Associate Director of the Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution in the Department of Government at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, United States (US).
Communication Strategies

This information and communication technology (ICT) initiative fosters interaction between individuals and organisations around the world, using an online platform as a networking tool where one can find local and international partners and practitioners, share resources, exchange best practices, and read guides to careers, scholarships, internships, funding, and information technology (IT) resources in the field. The site also has a video section where members can access and view videos related to the field. Discussion topics and personal blogs can be posted, and are designed to nourish people's connections. For instance, amongst the 18 groups existing as of this writing are: Peace, Conflict and Development Research (a space to discuss current research work, explore potential collaboration, seek partners, etc.); Scholarship, Fellowship Opportunities and Academic Programs; Peace Advocacy (a space to post information on current advocacy campaigns and strategies related to conflict issues. Topics might include recommended actions, discussion of advocacy strategies, sharing resources, networking, etc.); Discussion of Conflict Areas; Positive News for a More Peaceful Planet; Training and Capacity Building in Peacebuilding and Related Fields; and Key Websites/Resources in the Field.
