Maternal Child Health
This is the Healthy Aboriginal Network's (HAN) first draft of their comic that deals with maternal and child health. HAN is using YouTube to test the story outline and concept with online focus groups and to collect their feedback. The feedback will be used to develop a final draft of the comic which will be published in full colour.
A visual representation of the comic book HAN has planned, this video seeks to teach pregnant women good maternal health practices including diet, traditional medicines, and spiritual connectivity with the growing baby both during pregnancy and after childbirth. While speaking through a mother's perspective, the video also addresses a father's role in child care, and healthy behaviours. The story is presented through the eyes of Lara, her mother, and an unfamiliar woman named Danis who turns out to be Lara's baby year's later. In the story, Danis is able to assure Lara that she will do a good job as a mother because Danis and her own daughter are living proof.
