Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

International and Regional Declarations and Resolutions – Children and Media

SummaryText
This resource, in the form of a web page, is located on The International Clearinghouse on Children, Youth and Media website and offers a list of links to International and Regional Declarations and Resolutions on Children and Media.

Twenty declarations are available in full text through hot links from this page. They begin in 1989 with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television of the Council of Europe and lead up The Radio Manifesto which was promulgated in 2004.

The Clearinghouse seeks to increase awareness and knowledge about children, youth and media by collecting and documenting research and other information across the world. It is hoped that broadening and contextualising knowledge will serve as a way to foster policy-making which contributes to public debate, and enhances children's and young people's media literacy and media competence. The Clearinghouse provides information to researchers, policy-makers, media professionals, voluntary organisations, teachers, students, and interested individuals.
