Get With It!

The Get With It! guide is designed to help parents understand the new world of digital media so that they can help their children to use the new technologies wisely. A New Media Technologies section introduces and explains a number of devices and technologies, including:

• The Internet

• Digital television
• Other technologies, such as MP3 players and personal video recorders (PVRs)

The guide also includes a section on Parents' Questions About Child Safety and New Media Content, addressing common questions and safety concerns. Answers cover issues such as pornography, exploitation, piracy and hate literature, and offer suggestions on how to protect children. Suggestions include monitoring and site blocking software as well as tips on how to talk to children and set boundaries.
