Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Gender Based Violence & Health Research Award - Deadline April 2 2002 - awards from the South African Gender-Based Violence & Health Initiative (SAGBVHI) will be given to researchers from South Africa at the 1st Gender Based Violence & Health Conference, South Africa, April 17-19 2002. 2. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria - Deadline March 10 2002 - approximately $700 million available for disbursement during 2002. The Fund will give priority to proposals from countries and regions with the greatest need, based on highest burden of disease and the least ability to bring financial resources to address the target issues. Reporting on the Environment Awards - Deadline April 1 2002 - a $1000 prize will be awarded in each of 9 categories, recognising the year's best environmental journalism in newspapers, magazines, and newsletters, and on television, radio and the Internet.
