Information is categorised into broad categories under the following topical headings: population distribution; fertility; mortality; family planning; nutritional status; health care; reproductive health; marital status; education; sexual practise; crime data; and workforce.
Among the data sources are: 1) the Government of India, including the Census of India; the Sample Registration Systems; the Central Statistical Organisation; the National AIDS Control Organisation; and data of the Crime Record Bureau, as well as various reports of several concerned ministries; and 2) other research institutes, such as the International Institute for Population Sciences. Collation is done according to data availability up to the state and district levels.
