Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

C-Hub, launched by C-Change, is an online resource of communication materials for development. Users can view, access, download, and share examples of communication materials. Each set of materials (database records) includes media and multimedia documents and supporting documentation in electronic formats. The goal of C-Hub is to provide a free and open online system where users can view, access, and share examples of communication materials, showcasing the processes of developing effective social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) campaigns and materials.

C-Hub is intended as a central point and network for communication materials from projects or interventions working in a range of cross-cutting development issues, particularly health, but also environment, civil society, democracy and governance, climate change, and education. A goal of C-Hub is to promote and advocate for the importance of developing communication materials that are based on evidence.

Materials are accepted from producers that develop communication materials, both domestic and international: small, medium, and large non-governmental organisations (NGOs); government agencies; private companies; and United Nations organisations. Entries sought by C-Hub include:

  1. Media and multi-media documents, such as outdoor displays, posters, pamphlets, flip charts, radio and TV programmes, spots, and scripts, etc. Campaigns may encompass low-literacy materials, community mobilisation and interpersonal communication manuals, advocacy materials addressing leaders for policy change, training materials, etc.
  2. Supporting documentation, such as project descriptions and/or communication strategies, formative research/baseline reports or summaries, concept- and pre-testing reports or summaries, midline or process evaluations, and summative, endline, or impact reports or summaries.
