Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health: A Training Manual for Program Managers

SummaryText
As part of the CATALYST Consortium south-to-south programme, PROFAMILIA/Colombia and CEDPA collaborated to produce this manual for managers of adolescent sexual and reproductive health programmes.

This 216-page manual strives to build the capacity of youth-serving programme managers and coordinators from the public and private sectors, with limited experience managing youth programmes, to design programmes that respond to the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs and rights of young people (10-24 years of age), and helps youth develop life skills and adopt healthy behaviours.

The manual is based on Profamilia/Colombia’s South-to-South Cooperation Program, funded by the Dutch Government through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The South-to-South Program is designed to foster the exchange of knowledge, experiences and processes between developing countries to ensure sustainable institutional development and, ultimately, the sexual and reproductive health of all women, men and young people. The South-to-South approach promotes the development of partnerships between institutions through exchanges such as training, technical assistance and observational visits.

According to CEDPA, much of the manual is based on training processes directed by Profamilia/Colombia over the past decade. Many of the session designs and activities in this module were previously piloted in Colombia with participants from throughout Latin America and enhanced with CEDPA's training experience and technical expertise in Advocacy, Rights and Gender and Youth programmes.
